The advantages of lychee in syrup
The light syrup in which the lychee is stored can be used to flavour a dessert such as tiramisu for example, spoon biscuits advantageously dipped in syrup and fruit placed directly on the top layer of the tiramisu.
Whether in a mousse, a panna cotta or a cream, lychee flavours many preparations with its unique flavour, in combination with other flavours or on its own. In the kitchen, the classic combination of raspberry – pink – lychee, popularized by chef Pierre Hermé in his famous Ispahan macaroon, is a real delight for the taste buds. But other combos are just as delicious.
Lychee pairs happily with full-bodied flavors and spicy ingredients like ginger, bitter orange, nuts, coffee, and some exotic fruits like passion fruit. But its delicacy also makes it an ally for subtle ingredients and aromas such as white chocolate, vanilla, champagne, lemon or saffron. The rose and raspberries remain the best companions for lychees. If you’re looking for simple recipe ideas, mix raspberry puree with custard. In addition to coloring and flavoring it, it goes perfectly with lychee. Spicer flavours combine in a balanced way with the sweetness of lychee: imagine an irresistible gingerbread flavoured with rose water, and garnished with melting lychees.
It also beautifully decorates desserts such as the Yule log, the Pavlova meringue, cakes of all kinds, sweet verrines. Entremets, layered cakes, macaroons; so many desserts that are easy to garnish with lychees. Its round shape and soft creamy white color make it a fruit that is as beautiful as it is tasty. It enhances many desserts with class and distinction. Add it without counting, your customers young and old will ask for more!
