The brand offers a range of high quality dried fruits: figs, prunes, raisins and dried apricots, dates, cranberries.

What origin for our dried apricots?

It is in the heart of the Malatya region in eastern Turkey that BROVER dried apricots are grown. This region with its exceptional terroir allows us to import dried apricots of rare quality. For more than 30 years, we have been in close collaboration with producers in order to obtain dried fruits grown in accordance with the values of Brousse & Fils and in a quality approach.

Turkey has historically been a fruit exporting country. The world’s leading producer of dried apricots, producers harvest about 110,000 tonnes of fruit, 70% of which is exported. France, the second largest consumer of dried apricots, imports 6,000 tonnes per year from Malatya. Fresh apricots are harvested ripe in August, by hand, then spread out on long tarpaulins for natural drying in the sun. The dry climate of the Malatya region makes it possible to obtain quality dried apricots, dried only by the action of the sun. The fruits are then sorted and graded, then pitted by hand one by one. The browning of the fruit is natural under the action of the sun, which gives it a beautiful amber hue that can be found in natural or organic dried apricot. The orange colour of conventional dried apricots is due to the addition of sulphur at the beginning of drying.

A soft and mellow dried fruit

The dried apricot from Turkey is also called Armenian plum or Armenian apple. Summer fruits with a beautiful orange colour, our pitted dried apricots are ready to eat and can be eaten all year round in their dried form. The fruit is soft, chewy, and meaty for a fruity, sweet flavor.

Traditionally, accompanied by dates, grapes and dried figs, dried apricots are particularly eaten during Ramadan and during the Christmas holidays. There is a tradition of the 13 Christmas desserts, especially in Provence where, at the end of the meal, baskets of dried fruit are shared by the whole family. Dried apricots are also present, always associated with dates, grapes and figs. The fruit, after drying in the sun, contains a greater amount of sugar compared to fresh apricot, which is still waterlogged. It is now recommended for health to consume a portion of between 20 g and 50 g of dried apricots per day, which corresponds on average to between 3 and 5 dried apricots.

Nutritional Benefits of Dried Apricots

Nutriscore A, dried apricot contains many nutritional benefits.
